A Magical Garden Tour 2

Tim The back door is flanked by Alberta spruces planted in whiskey barrels. Evergreens, a staple of Winter holiday decorating, are a symbol of the eternal promise of Summer. The bell, which my brother put up for me, is traditionally rung on the Winter Solstice, to signal the coming light and renewing sun. On a clear day, a farm bell can be heard five miles away.

Tim In the spot where the well now sits, stood an 80-foot tall Norway spruce tree. When it was removed it left a stump that was nearly four feet wide. After a lot of thinking and debating, this water feature developed — a well with a witch hazel bush behind it. The other plantings have changed from year-to-year.
